Together’s Halloween Horror Show - Sat 25 Oct @ Scala - The Horrors, CSS, Foals & more

October 7th, 2008

I’m delighted or should that be scared, to reveal Together’s Halloween Horror Show, to be held at London’s Scala on Saturday 25 October.

Typically we’ve nailed a freakish line-up suitable for the occasion featuring The Horrors, CSS and Foals – all hitting the decks for the night alongside the likes of Hannah Holland, Streetlife DJs and Deadly Rhythm Club. Plus there’s all the usual Together silly stuff on top such as the return of the legendary Free Haircuts and Free Face Painting, alongside Blood Punch, Scary Movies and Halloween Fancy Dress (with killer prizes –
geddit?!).

We’ve also done a deal with fancy dress store Escapade, so that the Together faithful can get 10% discount off their Halloween outfit by taking down the flyer to their new superstore in Camden. Bless.

Amy Winehouse

September 30th, 2008

This event is going to be the highlight of your year…This show is awesome!

Tania began her tribute to the award winning Amy Winehouse in July 07 and its taking London by storm.
Tania has a special passion for this tribute as she is impersonating one of her favourite singers of all time and it shows in her performance, she has perfected the unique style and sound that Amy is so famous for, but the best part of having Tania to entertain you is, unlike the real Amy, she wont be drunk and she will definitely turn up. This show takes place at the Pavillion, Broadstairs on the 2nd October.

Tickets are available for £10 from Soundhouse, Broadstairs. Or More on the Door.

Winehouse ‘destroyed Bestival hotel room’

September 11th, 2008

Amy Winehouse caused £5,000 worth of damage to her hotel room following her Bestival appearance a tabloid has been claimed.
The Sun newspaper has also alleged that the singer was so drunk she had to be smuggled from the premises in a duvet.

The 24-year old star, who headlined the main stage on the Saturday night, was staying in the Wellington Hotel in Ventnor where she apparently shouted at staff and guests which led to bosses barring her from returning.

A source told the newspaper: “Amy was a total mess. She couldn’t manage to walk to the car so they had to wrap her in a duvet.”

Winehouse’s appearance at the festival was her last scheduled live performance of 2008.

Eridge Music Festival Cancelled

August 27th, 2008

A HEADLINE act has pulled out of a three day musical “extravaganza” in Eridge Park, forcing organisers to cancel the event. September’s Sound Sanctuary festival has been withdrawn by Ian Hart of Hartbeat Productions because, according to organisers, 90’s band M People stepped out of the line-up. Front woman Heather Small has been asked to appear on TV show Strictly Come Dancing, and therefore had to cancel the group’s appearance.

Sound Sanctuary has announced that all customers will receive a full refund on their tickets, which varied in cost between £25 and £37.50.The news comes just a week after Britain’s Got Talent winner George Sampson was added to the line-up, which also boasted appearances from chart topping acts including the Sugababes, and Sandi Thom.

Spokesman for Sound Sanctuary Sarah Cartledge said organisers “understand” M People’s reason for not appearing, and also put the decision down to “economic factors”. She said: “Sound Sanctuary launched in a year when the UK is experiencing economic slowdown and, along with other festivals, ticket sales have been slow.” She added: “As a result of the credit crunch suppliers have been unable to extend the credit facilities that all new events rely on.

“It’s a busy year for bands and all this, coupled with the crowded music event’s market, has made it difficult for us to replace this headline act at such short notice.” Sound Sanctuary was set to open on Friday September 19, with “the biggest party in the South East for 13 to 19-year-olds”.

This was to be followed on Saturday September 20 by an afternoon of performances starting at 2pm and finishing at 10.30pm, with a total of 11 acts on show. The festival was to be wrapped up on Sunday 21 with a further 11 performers taking over the stage.

Organisers have said Sound Sanctuary “will be back next year”.

The double album kicks off with a stone cold classic; ‘Analogue Bubblebath’, which was the debut release from the ever innovative electronic enigma Aphex Twin, who will be headlining The Big Top on Saturday at this year’s Bestival.  Indie dons du jour Black Kids’ breakthrough single ‘I’m Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How To Dance With You’, Carl Craig’s cascading ‘At Les’, the title track from dan le sac Vs Scroobius Pip’s stunning debut album ‘Angles’ and Acid House legends 808 State’s sublime ‘Pacific 202’ all follow as Mr da Bank crams in boundless quality cuts.  Appearances from Oxford’s Foals, enigmatic genius Gideon Conn, synth pop doyens Human League, one-man-riot anti-hero pop star Kid Carpet, soul-tronica trailblazer Jamie Lidell, raucous rock n rollers Kitty Daisy & Lewis and the blissful folk of Lucky Elephant lead on to the leftfield pop brilliance of Micachu who rounds off the first part of the A-Z in some style.

Danger Mouse produced ‘ones to watch’ The Shortwave Set open up the action for disc two on the letter ‘N’ with ‘Now Til 69’. The 8 Bit grooves of thecocknbullkid’s ‘On My Own’, the punky pop of Pete & The PiratesCome On Feet’ and Christopher D Ashley’s ‘sluttish warehouse electro’ on ‘Sugar Coated Lies’ keep the pressure on before Roots Manuva’s timeless ‘Witness (1 Hope)’ makes its presence felt. The unhinged bleep-pop of Slagsmalsklubben’s ‘Sponsored By Destiny’, Transglobal Underground’s majestic ‘Temple Head’, Underworld’s immortal ‘Cowgirl’ and Pendulum’s colossal ‘Visions’ bring things into the home straight that sees Little Dragon, Sunday Best new boys The Ghost and the throbbing Yacht providing a superlative closeout that leaves Zombie Zombie’s epic psychedelic wig-out ‘Driving This Road Until Death Sets You Free’ to bring the A-Z of Bestival to an emphatic end, well and truly whetting the appetite for Bestival’s 5th birthday at Robin Hill Country Park this September.
